The Players Guild at Sugar Hill has branded its 10th anniversary season a “a season of classics and a season of hope.”

The troupe in residence at the Eagle Theatre in Sugar Hill, the Players Guild will stage four productions in its 10th year — “Steel Magnolias” in September, “It’s a Wonderful Life” in November, “The Diary of Anne Frank” in February 2024 and “The Wedding Singer” in April 2024.

“(These productions) are stories connected by characters who inevitably choose hope in the face of overwhelming odds,” says Justin Walker, producing artistic director for the Players Guild. “As our audiences and artists experience these journeys together, I hope it will inspire them to do the same.”

The guild’s lineup for its next season reflects the group’s appreciation for the community.

“Going into our 10th anniversary season, I wanted to thank our community for their support throughout the last decade by creating a lineup of classic titles that would stir the soul, warm the heart, and gift our audiences with four truly wonderful nights out at the theatre,” Walker says.

The Players Guild staged its most recent production, “Guys and Dolls,” its first-ever musical, in April.

“Coming off of a tremendously successful season 9, the energy in our organization and community is electric,” Walker says. “‘Guys and Dolls’ pushed the limits of what people thought a community theatre could accomplish.”

“When I started Players Guild with Alan Hyma 10 years ago, we had several goals,” says Ane Mulligan, managing director and board chairman of the theater troupe. “As I watched the closing performance of our first musical, what struck me we have reached the main goal. Players Guild will be around long after I’m gone. It has grown into a troupe that offers high quality productions, and that makes me a ‘proud mama.'”

Subscriptions for the Players Guild’s next season are on sale now and can be purchased here.

“Heading into the 10th anniversary season, we are eager to continue breaking boundaries,” Walker says. “Audiences should expect to see a season that is daring, innovative, and exciting.”
