A 57-year-old woman is in police custody after the Gwinnett County Police Department said she fired multiple shots at a Gwinnett County Public School bus in Suwanee on Monday morning, May 9.

According to police, the incident took place shortly after 7:15 a.m. in the vicinity of Highland Gate Circle and Highland Gate Drive. Officers responded to the shots fired call and learned that a woman had fired multiple rounds into a bus transporting students bound for Riverside Elementary School.

No children were injured during the incident, however, the school bus driver sustained minor injuries from shattered glass.

Gwinnett County officers were able to take the female suspect into custody without incident. Her motive and the situation leading up to the shooting are under investigation by Gwinnett County detectives and the CSI unit. The suspect’s name and charges have yet to be released.
