Staff Reports
The Gwinnett County Police Department is seeking the public’s help to identify the suspects responsible for a series of vehicle break-ins and motor vehicle thefts that happened within the last few days in the Dacula area.
Police say that several vehicle break-ins and motor vehicle thefts took place between May 13 and May 15. One suspect is described as a black male in a blue hoodie getting out of a dark-colored SUV. The SUV may be a Mazda CX5/9. There may be at least one other suspect involved.
On Wednesday, May 15 at around 7 AM, the suspects were captured on camera at a home on Mount Grove Court. A video from a Ring Doorbell camera was posted to the Neighbors App which showed the suspects stop behind the victim’s red Jeep SUV that was running. One suspect exits the driver’s side of an SUV and walks through the victim’s yard. He approaches the red Jeep with a weapon in his waistband. The door was locked so he could not open the door. The suspect is then seen on video running back to his vehicle and quickly drives off.
Shortly after this incident, the same similarly described suspect stole a black Mercedes GLA250 from the garage of a home on Trinity Mill Drive. The victim’s son confronted the suspect who then fired several rounds into the air before driving away.
This suspect and the other occupants of the vehicle may be responsible for several vehicle break-ins and motor vehicle thefts in the same general vicinity.
Police are encouraging the public to view the video and images and to call in with tips. Gwinnett PD knows that at least one suspect is armed, so identifying these suspects is critical before someone gets harmed during these crimes.
