DACULA — Investigators with the Gwinnett County Police Department are investigating a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred last week in Dacula.
The accident took place on Friday, Nov. 27 just after 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Braselton Highway and Hog Mountain Church Road in Dacula. The call came in originally as a single-vehicle accident.
Investigators believe that the motorcycle driven by John Mathews, age 46 of Dacula, Ga. was heading south on Braselton Highway when he locked up his brakes to avoid hitting a vehicle in front of him.
Mathews was thrown from his bike and died at the scene from his injuries.
Investigators say that no other vehicles were struck during the incident.
Gwinnett County Police investigators are seeking witnesses to the accident. Witnesses are asked to contact the police department if they have any information to add to the investigation.
