On March 29th, I got the opportunity to view some original works of art by the likes of Andy Warhol, Salvador Dali, and Roy Lichtenstein. That’s not exactly an everyday occurrence. I bet you’re wondering if I went to the “Met” in New York or was on some adventure abroad. Absolutely not! I was right here in Sugar Hill! And the best part is that you can see them, too!

Last Thursday was the kick-off for the Post-War Modernists Exhibit at Sugar Hill City Hall, an amazing collection of unique pieces on loan from Brenau University thanks to a collaboration with the Sugar Hill Arts Commission. The exhibit is available for public viewing during business hours (Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) until May 11th. The exhibit has no charge to get in and you don’t have to make an appointment to view these works of art.  Simply show up!

Planning to visit with your kids? I hope so because exposing kids to cultural events can only help them in the future and may spark a new passion! While there, the teacher/history enthusiast in me generated several ideas to help families make a visit more meaningful. *Please note that not all of Salvador Dali’s pieces are family friendly.

The Sugar Hill Arts Commission meets monthly in an effort to promote the arts locally and is free to join! Find out more about the Arts Commission and stay informed of all their upcoming events at www.sugarhillarts.com.
