BUFORD — The Buford varsity girls basketball team hosted North Oconee in the North Georgia High School Showcase held on Saturday, Nov. 28 at the Buford Arena. The Wolves defeated the Titans 74-33.
No. 1 state-ranked Buford (4-0) dominated right out of the gate scoring 26 points in the first quarter to North Oconee’s 10. The Titans faired about the same in the second quarter scoring 11 points. The Wolves would add 23 more points in the second quarter to make it 49-21 going into the half. After the half, Buford was more reserved with just 16 points in the third quarter and nine in the fourth. North Oconee (3-1) put up 10 points in the third and just two points during the fourth quarter.
Leading the offense for Buford was Junior Tatum Ozment who scored 12 points. Not far behind Ozment was senior Blair Wallis with 11 points and freshman Eva Grace Watson also with 11 points.
The Buford girls basketball team travels to Parkview on Tuesday, Dec. 1. The game starts at 6 p.m.
Boys Basketball
BANKS COUNTY 71, BUFORD 69
BUFORD — Banks County would outlast Buford (2-1) during the North Georgia High School Showcase on Saturday at the Buford Arena to win 71-69.
Leading Buford’s offense was junior Alahn Sumler with 16 points, junior Caleb Blackwell also scored 16 points and Jaylon Taylor had 15 points.
Buford plays next on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Buford Arena against Alexander.
