BUFORD — The Georgia Department of Natural Resources has resumed the search for an adult male that went under the water near Shoal Creek and never resurfaced.
On Saturday night at approximately 9:20 p.m., the Georgia DNR along with three local fire rescue teams responded to Shoal Creek Park on Lake Lanier. They had received a call that an adult male had jumped off of his life raft to retrieve an oar and that he never resurfaced.
The Georgia DNR began to immediately search for the male using side-scan sonar. The search continued on Sunday morning without success. Crews returned to the lake on Monday morning and once again began searching for the victim.
The victim’s identity has not been released.
