BUFORD — Officials suspended search efforts for a 28-year-old man who went swimming in Lake Lanier on Saturday afternoon and never resurfaced.
Hall County received the call about the missing swimmer at 3:58 p.m. Saturday, July 11, 2020.
The man went swimming off of an anchored pontoon boat near Harbor Landing near Buford. He never resurfaced prompting search efforts to begin.
Game Wardens with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources took over the search efforts from the Hall County Fire Services department. The game wardens searched for the man using sonar equipment until after dark. They were forced to suspend the search until Sunday morning.
The identity and further details have not been released at this time.
