Buford 2, East Coweta 1
Buford managed to pull off the 2-1 win over East Coweta in the seventh inning when junior Madison Pickens hit a line drive up the middle allowing fellow junior Tavye Borders to score breaking up the 1-1 tie.
Senior Olivia Duncan (12-1) pitched her 10th complete game of the year. She gave up four hits and one unearned run.
Borders led Buford’s offense going 2-for-3, scoring one run and stealing a base.
Buford’s win sets up a showdown with defending state champion North Gwinnett on Friday, Oct. 28 in the semifinals. Game starts at 5 p.m. in Columbus.
North Gwinnett 6, Hillgrove 1
North Gwinnett beat Hillgrove 6-1 on Thursday, Oct. 27. This sets the defending state champs up to face Buford in the semifinals on Friday at 5 p.m.
