Buford 6, Dacula 3

Senior Olivia Duncan pitched her eighth complete game of the season in Buford’s 6-3 win over Region 8-AAAAAAA opponent Dacula on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at the Buford Softball Complex. Buford’s overall season record improves to 19-0 and 10-0 in the region.

Duncan, in her seven innings of work, gave up five hits and three runs (one earned). She struck out 10 Dacula batters while not walking a single player. Her season pitching record improves to 9-0.

Buford’s offense was led by freshman Caroline Stanton who hit her seventh and eighth home run of the season. She was 2-for-3 on the night with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Other offensive standouts for the Wolves were junior Madison Pickens (2-for-4, triple, double, one RBI, one run scored), junior Mackenzie Pickens (1-for-3, double, one RBI, one run scored) and junior Adriana Martinez (1-for-3, double, one RBI).

Buford travels to play another region opponent Mountain View on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at Mountain View. Game starts at 6 p.m.

North Gwinnett 12, Duluth 0

North Gwinnett celebrated their seniors on Tuesday night at home in style as they defeated fellow Region 7-AAAAAAA opponent Duluth 12-0.

Senior Amber Reed got her 500th career strike out against Duluth in her four innings of work. She only gave up four hits, no runs, striking out 10 and walking none.

Offensive standouts for the Bulldogs were senior Bella Faw (2-for-4, home run, double), sophomore Sydney Woyce (two hits), senior Landry Rabitsch (two hits) and sophomore Mary Grace Nellis (two hits).

North Gwinnett’s overall season record improves to 18-5 and 6-1 in Region 7-AAAAAAA.

The Bulldogs face another region opponent, Norcross on the road on Thursday, Sept. 29 at 6 p.m at Norcross.

VOLLEYBALL

Buford 3, Collins Hill 0

Buford’s varsity volleyball team hosted fellow region opponent Collins Hill on Tuesday, Sept. 27 where the Wolves defeated the Eagles 25-22, 25-13, 25-16. This win came on the heels of the Wolves winning the Gwinnett County Championships on Saturday.

Standouts for Buford were freshman Clara Briley who had 16 kills and Polly Cummings with 30 assists and eight digs.

This game concluded the regular season for Buford’s volleyball team. The Wolves have earned the No. 1 seed going into the region tournament.

Buford’s overall regular season record was 29-5 and 5-0 in the region.

North Gwinnett 2, Norcross 0

North Gwinnett 2, Meadowcreek 0

North Gwinnett faced two region opponents on Tuesday at Norcross High School. The Bulldogs defeated Norcross 25-21, 25-20 and Meadowcreek 25-4, 25-14 to earn themselves the No. 1 seed going into their region tournament.

North Gwinnett’s overall regular season record was 35-1. Their one lone loss came on Saturday in the Gwinnett County Championships when they lost in the final game to Buford.
