On December 8, 2018, Gwinnett County Police Department received a phone call at approximately 8:49 p.m. from a man stating that his car had been stolen while sitting in front of a location in the 0 block of Bona Road in Buford. The victim told police that he had left the car running for thirty minutes while he was inside a residence on Bona Road. The victim said his car was a 2015 gray Dodge Dart with black rims and tinted windows. At the time of the call, the victim could not provide the tag number nor the vehicle identification number but would call his lender to obtain that information.
While waiting for the victim to call back with the vehicle information, police received a tip from a person reporting a suspicious vehicle in the area of South Street and Elliott Street. When officers arrived, they observed a silver Dodge Dart matching the victim’s description. The car was unoccupied and had heavy damage to the passenger side rear fender, wheel, and rear bumper.
The motorist who tipped police off stated that when he came upon the vehicle it appeared to have been wrecked with two males near it. The motorist believes the males were two white males but could provide nothing further to police in terms of describing the possible suspects.
Police determined that the Dodge Dart had damage consistent with striking a nearby light pole. A nearby light pole had scratches on the pole from being struck. The vehicle’s plastic light housing along with the rear coil spring from the vehicle were found beside the light pole.
The victim was notified by police about the fate of his Dodge Dart. No suspects were found in the immediate area where the car was crashed.
