The Sugar Hill Area Women’s Club plans to award a $500 scholarship to a female high school senior attending one of three local schools.
The scholarship is open to girls at Lanier High School, North Gwinnett High School and Buford High School who will pursue secondary education in the fall.
Applicants are asked to write an essay between 600 and 1,000 words on an important female in their life — someone they know personally, a historical figure or someone influential in the present day — and discuss her impact on the applicant, others within the community or on a larger scale.
The scholarship application deadline is Monday, April 25, and the recipient will be honored at the Club’s general membership meeting on Thursday, May 19.
