Sugar Hill residents and commuters reported a fire near Peachtree Industrial Boulevard on Wednesday morning, north of Georgia Highway 20. Gwinnett County firefighters responded at 9:42 a.m. to a business at 1450 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard.
Nearby residents witnessed explosions and flames and recognized the building as what is locally referenced as the Honda salvage yard. The 15.3 acres at this address were recently sold and converted into mixed-use property.
Crews had been working to control the flames from the building and reported no injuries. North and southbound lanes of Peachtree Industrial were closed from north of Nelson Brogdon to allow firefighters access to a fire hydrant across the road from the site of the fire.
