Sugar Hill, Ga – The City of Sugar Hill released details about its new SHINE district. The city is “affectionately calling [their] downtown entertainment area ‘Sugar Hill’s Intersection of Neighborhoods and Entertainment,’ the SHINE District”
Sugar Hill has a history of moonshine and this is the city’s fun play on that history. The nod to moonshining on the Chattahoochee is their way “to honor our history as we look forward to the future.” City Council Member, Brandon Hembree wrote about the area’s moonshining history which can be read here.
The SHINE District is an area around the E Center that includes the Splash Park and the Bowl where a patron may “purchase alcohol from an establishment or vendor within the SHINE District in a non-glass SHINE marked to-go cup and carry the open container anywhere within the SHINE District.” This is particularly convenient if one wishes to buy a drink from a restaurant inside the E Center but has yet to finish their drink before they wish to leave to go see their show at the Bowl. The SHINE District was designed to make patrons experience in downtown Sugar Hill more enjoyable and emphasize the city’s arts and entertainment offerings.
The SHINE District boundaries are marked in the map and include the entire E Center, The Bowl, and the Splash Park.
