The city of Sugar Hill will hold a Memorial Day ceremony from 10:30 a.m. to noon Monday, May 30, in front of the Veterans Memorial on West Broad Street.

“Traditions are important for a community, and the Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony has become an important tradition in Sugar Hill,” said Mayor Brandon Hembree.

The ceremony will include a music ensemble by the Broadstreet Band of Sugar Hill, a flag raising ceremony by Boy Scout Troop 1534, a rifle volley performed by the American Legion Honor Guard, a military grave marker unveiling, a wreath ceremony performed by the Suwanee Creek Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and other traditional Memorial Day observances.

The ceremony will be followed by a Memorial Day market for which the city has partnered with the Sugar Hill Distillery. whose co-owner, J.D. Liebrock, is a veteran. The market will be held from 1 to 4 p.m.

All proceeds from market vendor applications will benefit the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation, which provides college scholarships and educational counseling to military children who have lost parents in the line of duty.

“As a community, we value our veterans and active service members,” Hembree said.
