Early Wednesday at approximately 4:10 a.m., a call was received into the 9-1-1 system about a fire at the Castlegate Townhomes located off of Level Creek Rd in Sugar Hill.  The fire originated in the far right hand unit of the six unit structure.  Residents were at home at the time of the blaze.  The husband and wife were alerted to the fire by their dog.  They quickly grabbed their children and dog and exited the townhome through the front door.  The occupants reported flames coming from the living room area.

The first officer on the scene reported that the unit was fully engulfed in flames and was spreading to the next unit.  The blaze quickly spread through the attic and ran the entire length of the 6 unit structure.  Firefighters attacked the fire with multiple hose lines to control the fire and keep exposure to other nearby structures to a minimum.  The structure involved has extensive damage.
