BUFORD — A suspect has been arrested after Gwinnett County police say he attempted to carjack two vehicles and then broke into a Buford home in an attempt to evade police.
Lamont Dickerson was arrested Feb. 1, 2021. Just before 5 a.m., officers responded to South Puckett Road near Ridge Road regarding the first carjacking attempt. According to police, the victim was sitting in his car when he was approached by Dickerson, who opened the victim’s car door and ordered him out. The victim sped away from the suspect, who then attempted to carjack a second vehicle near Ridge Road and Hamilton Mill Road. The victim in the second car refused to get out when Dickerson got into the car on the passenger side. When the second victim refused to exit the vehicle, Dickerson fled.
The suspect then used a brick to break a window and enter a home on Woodtree Lane, where he was confronted by an armed homeowner. Dickerson fled and led police on a foot chase before being apprehended.
The suspect’s motive is under investigation.
