On Saturday, December 1, 2018, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Gwinnett County Police responded to a call in the 1300 block of Primrose Park Road in Sugar Hill.  Located in the Primrose Creek subdivision off of Sycamore Road, the caller said he was robbed in front of his residence. The victim told police that he was standing outside of his home smoking a cigarette when a 6’ 2” tall and 180 lbs black male approached him in his front yard.

The victim offered to get the suspect a cigarette but before he could do so, the suspect punched the victim in the face knocking him down.  While the victim was down, the suspect searched his pockets and took his wallet. The suspect was observed coming from inside the neighborhood and after the altercation, he walked back through the neighborhood like he was heading towards the entrance to Primrose Creek subdivision.

The suspect made off with the contents of the wallet which included several credit cards and $300 in cash.  The suspect was described as wearing a blue jean jacket and dark pants. He had on a toboggan-style hat with a brown or furry brown stripe around the bottom of the hat.  He may have also been wearing a black shirt.

While investigating this incident, a previous call about a string of copper wire thefts on a new street in the neighborhood called Bramblewood Circle was brought to light. The original complainant on the copper thefts gave a description of a suspect that matched the one involved in the robbery on Primrose Park Road.  The complainant stated that the male suspect would walk into the homes while they were being worked on and ask for a cigarette. He would then linger and look around the homes. This happened on several occasions.

Upon learning that this was a repeat criminal, police called in a K-9 unit.  The K-9 unit tracked the suspect’s scent from the incident location towards the entrance of the subdivision.  About halfway there, the K-9 unit entered the woods where they tracked the scent for approximately 50 minutes.  The K-9 unit eventually emerged on Appling Drive near the dead end of the landfill.
