The Suwanee City Council recently honored Gwinnett County Public School’s 2023 STAR Student, Aditi Venkatesh, a senior at North Gwinnett High School.

The Student-Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) honors the senior in the top 10 percent of his or her class with the highest SAT score. That student then selects a teacher who has had a strong influence on his or her academic career. Venkatesh, the top student among all Gwinnett County high schools, selected North Gwinnett social studies teacher Katie Massey for the honor of STAR teacher.

Venkatesh and Massey will move on to compete for regional titles. Regional winners will then move on to the state level to vie for the honor of being named Georgia’s 2023 STAR Student and Teacher.

Erika Tay was named STAR Student for Lanier High School and selected Laura Wood, who teaches orchestra, as her STAR teacher.

Erin Lim was named Buford City Schools’ STAR Student, and she selected Brent Leitsch, who teaches in the science department, as her STAR Teacher.
