At its most recent meeting, the Suwanee City Council voted unanimously to authorize Mayor Jimmy Burnette to enter into an agreement in the amount of $200,000 to commission artist Michael Szabo for the creation of a sculpture for the new veterans memorial at Town Center on Main.
During its Tuesday, Feb. 28, meeting, the Suwanee City Council also:
- Approved an amended alcohol beverage license to add on-premise consumption of distilled spirits for Chef JK LLC, dba Choi’s Grill, at 1500 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, Suite 190. Phoebe Han has applied to be the licensee.
- Authorized proceeding with identified stormwater projects at Landover Crossing, Morning Top Place and Sharon Industrial Way. IPR, the city’s contracted vendor, has submitted a scope of work with an estimated cost of $409,625.70.
- Voted to authorize the mayor to execute the required documents for a GMA pension plan amendment to allow for certain non-participating employees to buy into and join the existing benefit plan reflecting years of service with the city.
- Authorized staff to apply for the Atlanta Regional Commission’s Livable Centers Initiative. This application will request funding for a small area study along Buford Highway. The city will provide matching funds for the project.
The Suwanee City Council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, at City Hall, 330 Town Center Ave.
