HALL COUNTY — A wreck caused the hours-long closure of Holly Springs Road in Clermont, Ga. on Monday, August 19.  Deputies responded to the scene of an overturned Freightliner box truck at approximately 4:45 p.m. The truck contained a substantial amount of coins as part of its business in servicing coin-cashing machines.  The truck’s load of coins went all over the roadway which was the cause of the lengthy closure.

The truck’s driver, Donovann Miller, age 21 of Decatur was headed east on Holly Springs Road when the truck ran off the eastbound shoulder.  Miller overcorrected into the westbound lane, going off the shoulder, and ultimately overturning the truck causing the load of coins to spill.

Another vehicle was involved in the accident.  A Ford F-150 pickup truck went off the road to avoid the accident sideswiping the roof of the overturned box truck.  The driver of the F-150 had only minor injuries and was not transported to the hospital.

Miller was transported by Hall County Fire Services to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville with non-life threatening injuries.  Deputies cited Miller with failure to maintain lane and no proof of insurance.

Holly Springs Road remained closed until approximately 11:30 p.m. for the cleanup of the box truck and its load of coins that spilled.
