The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) released a statement detailing the temporary closure of Buford Dam Road on the southern end of Lake Lanier that runs between Forsyth County and Gwinnett County.
According to the USACE, they will close Buford Dam Road on Thursday, Mar. 9 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for guard rail maintenance. Motorists are advised to use Georgia State Route 20 as an alternate travel route.
The closure will impact several parks as well. Lower Pool East, Lower Overlook, Lower Pool West, West Bank Turn-out, West Bank Park, and Buford Dam Park will all be closed while Buford Dam Road is closed for maintenance.
