According to The Water Tower, the H2GO 5K won’t be a typical race.

The Water Tower, a research and development organization that works to solve issues within the water and wastewater industries, will host its inaugural 5K on Nov. 16. The race offers an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at the F. Wayne Hill Water Resources Center, an award-winning advanced wastewater treatment facility next door to The Water Tower.

“As you run through the course, you’ll see the inner workings of this incredible facility like never before,” The Water Tower states on its website. “Whether you’re a seasoned runner or just looking for a fun way to explore, this race is a one-of-a-kind experience.”

The 5K will start at 8 a.m. at the Demo Area at The Water Tower behind Building A and finish in the same location. The Water Tower Global Innovation Center campus is at 2500 Clean Water Court in Buford, and parking for the 5K is free.

The cost for advance registration before Nov. 14 is $35. After that date, registration is $50. Registration is available online here.

Proceeds from the 5K will support The Water Tower Institute, a nonprofit that focuses on innovative water programs, including STEM workshops for high school students to explore water careers and workforce training for individuals who would like to become water or wastewater operators. Proceeds also will benefit programming in research, technology innovation and outreach to ensure communities have safe, reliable and affordable water resources.

“Your support creates a ripple effect of significant impact,” The Water Tower states.

Event sponsorships for businesses and individuals are also available. Visit theh2otower.org/run-like-water-5k/ for details.

Following the 5K, The Water Tower will host an after-party with food trucks, games and more.
