A Buford woman is dead after being shot by her husband in their home, Sunday morning, Nov. 27, according to the Gwinnett County Police Department.
Calls about a domestic disturbance were received by Gwinnett County 911 at approximately 10 a.m. Sunday for a home at 2605 Ivy Stone Trail in Buford.
Officers with Gwinnett County arrived at the home and found Desiree Ann Jean Marin, 44, and Michael Jason Marin, 44, both of Buford, with gunshot wounds. An elementary-aged child was in the home at the time of the shooting. The child was not physically injured and is now in the custody of family members.
Both shooting victims were transported to a local hospital where the female later died. The male was listed in critical condition.
The Gwinnett County Police Homicide and Crime Scene Investigation have been at the home processing the scene.
“The evidence gathered indicates a domestic argument occurred between the couple resulting in Michael Marin shooting Desiree Marin with a firearm and then shooting himself,” said Cpl. William Wolfe with the Gwinnett County Police Department.
According to Wolfe, the residence has had no prior domestic-related calls to the police department.
