San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey announced his retirement from Major League Baseball today.
The 34-year-old is a Georgia native and alumnus of Lee County High School and has spent the entirety of his 13-year career playing for the Giants.
Chosen by the Giants’ as the number two overall draft pick of 2018 was Buford native and Class of 2015 BHS graduate Joey Bart. Bart, a catcher, spent this season in the Giants’ Triple-A affiliate and is poised to fight for the Giants’ now empty catcher’s spot.
