Ojeda, Alcott lead Wolves to 6-0 win as Buford improves to 21-2, 15-0 in Region 8-6A
BUFORD — The Buford Wolves completed a dominant Region 8-6A series sweep of Discovery with a 6-0 win Friday, April 3, behind a combined no-hitter on the road.

Buford senior Javy Ojeda, who earned the win with five hitless innings, helped lead the Wolves to a combined no-hitter in a 6-0 victory over Discovery on April 3.
Senior Javy Ojeda set the tone on the mound, throwing five hitless innings with seven strikeouts and one walk to earn his first win of the season. Senior Chris Alcott closed the door with three perfect innings in relief, preserving the no-hitter and securing his second save.

The Wolves broke through in the second inning when junior Carson Reeves doubled to left field, driving in junior Payton Walker for the game’s first run. Reeves later scored on back-to-back balks, giving Buford a 2-0 lead.
Ojeda helped his own cause in the fifth. After working a walk from a 1-2 count, he stole second base and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly from senior Caleb Griffin, extending the lead to 3-0.
Buford added insurance in the sixth inning, capitalizing on three walks and two doubles. Junior Ian Chafin and Ojeda each delivered run-scoring doubles as the Wolves pushed the advantage to 6-0.
At the plate, Ojeda led Buford with two RBIs while going 1-for-3 with a double, walk and stolen base. Reeves added a double, RBI and two runs scored, and Chafin contributed a double and RBI.
The Wolves showed patience offensively, drawing nine walks, and were aggressive on the bases with six stolen bases. Defensively, Buford was clean, committing no errors.
Alcott retired all nine batters he faced, including a strikeout to end the game, as the Wolves secured the shutout and series sweep.
Buford returns to action Saturday, April 4, at Truist Park, where the Wolves are scheduled to face Southside Christian (S.C.) at 1 p.m.
