Mulberry to consider special use permit for place of assembly on Ridge Road

MULBERRY, Ga. — A proposal to establish a place of assembly on two properties along Ridge Road is scheduled to go before the Mulberry Planning Commission on Tuesday, Aug. 18.

The city is considering special use permit SUP-2026.06.1342 for properties at 3326 and 3350 Ridge Road. According to the City of Mulberry’s list of land-use applications, the applicant is seeking a special use permit allowing a place of assembly at the site. The application remains in progress.

A public hearing notice posted at the property identifies the parcels as being zoned C-1 and lists the Planning Commission hearing for 6:30 p.m. Aug. 18 at Mulberry City Hall, 2078 Teron Trace, Suite 100.

The properties include an existing residential-style structure along Ridge Road.

The Planning Commission meeting is the first step in the city’s public review process. The city’s current schedule calls for the application to advance to a Mayor and Council public hearing Sept. 3, followed by a decision meeting Sept. 17.

The proposal has generated discussion among area residents on social media after photographs of the public hearing sign were shared online.

A special use permit does not automatically change a property’s underlying zoning. Instead, it allows a local government to consider whether a particular use may operate on the property and whether conditions should be imposed as part of an approval.

No final decision has been made on the Ridge Road application.

The Aug. 18 Planning Commission meeting will give residents an opportunity to hear details about the proposal and provide public comment before the application moves to the Mulberry City Council.

Additional information about pending zoning and special use applications is available through the City of Mulberry’s applications under review page.
