LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — Gwinnett County is inviting nonprofit organizations, schools, faith-based groups and other community organizations to submit service project proposals for the 2026 Gwinnett Great Days of Service.
The countywide volunteer initiative will be held Oct. 16-18, bringing together residents of all ages to complete projects benefiting local organizations, families and public spaces.
“We’re stronger as a community when we act with intention,” Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson said. “Gwinnett Great Days of Service allows organizations to open their doors and invites volunteers from all walks of life to roll up their sleeves and make a difference.”
Hendrickson said the event gives organizations an opportunity to connect with supporters while completing meaningful community projects.
Volunteer Gwinnett officials say the program is designed to connect community organizations with volunteers who want to make a tangible difference. Each year, thousands of individuals, families, corporate teams and church groups participate in service projects addressing needs such as food insecurity, homelessness, education, veteran services, disability support and assistance for seniors.
County officials are seeking projects that address an identifiable community need and can be completed by volunteer teams in two to four hours. Projects should include tasks suitable for volunteers of different ages and abilities and provide a safe, accessible work environment.
Organizations selected to participate will receive assistance recruiting volunteers and guidance from event coordinators. Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, civic and neighborhood associations, youth and alumni groups, faith-based organizations, historical and cultural organizations, schools, parent-teacher associations, colleges, universities, student organizations, community service groups and government-affiliated programs or advisory boards.

Participating organizations must provide appropriate supervision, volunteer instructions and safety procedures. Projects must also align with Gwinnett County’s strategic priorities and the Gwinnett Standard of Excellence.
Organizations interested in hosting a project must review the eligibility requirements and complete the county’s project submission form. Approved organizations will then sign a collaborative agreement before their project is added to the volunteer registration platform.
Residents will have opportunities to volunteer as individuals, families, clubs, businesses or other groups. Service projects may focus on hunger relief, education, environmental stewardship, neighborhood improvement and other community needs. Volunteers may also earn service hours for school, work or leadership programs.
County officials encourage organizations that need volunteer assistance to submit project ideas now so they can be matched with volunteers during the October event.

Project proposals will be accepted through Friday, Sept. 11.
