Suwanee offers post-holiday tree recycling through annual program

SUWANEE — Residents looking for a post-holiday use for live Christmas trees can participate in the City of Suwanee’s annual “treecycling” campaign, part of Keep Georgia Beautiful’s statewide “Bring One for the Chipper” program.

Area residents may drop off live Christmas trees at Sims Lake Park, 4600 Suwanee Dam Road, from Dec. 26 through Jan. 31.

All decorations, lights and stands must be removed before trees are dropped off.

The collected trees will be recycled into mulch for use in Suwanee parks. Last year, mulch from nearly 1,200 Christmas trees was spread throughout city parks.

Volunteers will be on site to assist with unloading trees and distributing seedlings, while supplies last, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026.

Adult and teen volunteers are needed to assist with the event on Jan. 3. Those interested in volunteering may contact Nicole Schnepper at nschnepper@suwanee.com or 770-945-8996.
